- You use the endings –er (comparative) and –est (superlative)
- for short words with one syllable and
- for words that end in –le, -er, -y and –ow
- You use more and most
- for words with two and more syllables and adverbs ending in –ly (exception early – earlier
– earlies).
- Some exceptions: good/well – better – best; bad/evil/ill – worse – worst; many/much – more
– most; little – less/smaller – least/smallest …

- “Water is cheaper than wine”.
- “Whole-wheat bread is healthier than white bread”.
- “The buffalo is one of the most dangerous animals in Africa”.
- “It is getting better every day”.
